About diving in Greater Victoria
What makes Greater Victoria different.
Greater Victoria sits where Juan de Fuca Strait meets Haro Strait. The mixing of those currents is why fouling varies so much from harbour to harbour here. The Inner Harbour freshens slightly from the Selkirk and Gorge outflows, so growth there looks different than Cadboro Bay — warmer, saltier, and notorious for barnacle recruitment in July and August.
We work every marina and mooring field across Greater Victoria: the Inner Harbour, Wharf Street moorage, the Causeway, Fisherman's Wharf, Oak Bay Marina, Cadboro Bay Yacht Club moorings, Royal Victoria Yacht Club, Esquimalt Anglers' Association, Pedder Bay Marina, and West Bay Marina. If your boat lives in Victoria, we can get to it.
Most Greater Victoria boats benefit from hull cleaning on a 6-8 week schedule through summer and 3-4 months in winter. Zinc schedules depend more on electrical environment than season - boats plugged into shore power in Oak Bay or Esquimalt burn zincs faster than boats on moorings in Cadboro Bay.
