How it works

From your call to the report.

No surprises. Here's the actual sequence we follow on every job.

  1. 01

    Phone Triage

Call and describe what happened, where the boat is, and what you suspect fouled the prop. We assess urgency and get to you as soon as possible.

  2. 02

    Underwater Assessment

Before cutting, we look at what's wrapped - sometimes unwrapping preserves evidence for insurance (for example, proving a commercial net did the damage).

  3. 03

    Safe Removal

Careful cutting and unwrapping to minimise damage to shaft, cutless bearing, and shaft seal. Line that has welded to the shaft sometimes needs particular care.

  4. 04

    Post-Clearing Inspection

After removal, full inspection of shaft, cutless bearing, prop, rudder, and strut for damage. Report on video so you know if further work is needed before running the engine again.

From a customer

"Danny did a great job getting a line off my prop. Very reasonable pricing. I highly recommend Danny to anyone with underwater work to be done."

FAQ

Common questions.

Don't see your question? Call (778) 535-4506 — we'll answer it.

My prop is wrapped in a crab trap line - can you come today?
Usually yes for Victoria, Sidney, or nearby marinas. Call (778) 535-4506 and we'll triage. Most wraps are clearable within a few hours of the call.
Will running my engine with a wrapped prop damage the boat?
Depends on what's wrapped and how. A small line might be harmless. A heavy rope or net under load can blow a shaft seal, damage the cutless bearing, or even bend the shaft. If in doubt, don't run the engine - call and we'll clear it before you try.
Can you tell if the shaft is bent after clearing?
Underwater visual inspection catches obvious bends and prop damage. A subtle bend requires running the shaft or dial-indicator measurement after haul. We'll tell you what we see and flag anything that suggests hauling is a good idea.
Is this covered by my boat insurance?
Often yes - especially if the fouling was caused by a commercial net, an abandoned line, or debris. We document the removal on video. Check with your insurer and we can provide documentation for claims.
