Marine Diving Services at Royal Victoria Yacht Club - Cadboro Bay

Royal Victoria Yacht Club in Cadboro Bay has one of the most active racing fleets in the region. Our work there is a mix of race-prep, routine maintenance, and mooring inspection.

Location

About Royal Victoria Yacht Club.

RVYC sits on Cadboro Bay's west side, with a mix of floating moorage at the club docks and mooring buoys in the bay. Cadboro Bay itself is warm, shallow, and high-growth - one of the most fouling-prone spots in Greater Victoria.

The racing fleet at RVYC is active year-round. Summer regattas, winter frostbiting, and serious offshore programs all operate out of the club. A significant share of our Cadboro Bay work is race-related - cleaning, inspection, prep.

Access at the club is via member coordination. We work directly with boat owners and manage dock access appropriately.

What Diving Looks Like at RVYC

What diving here is actually like.

Cadboro Bay visibility is typically 5-10 feet - reduced by the shallow warm water and summer plankton. Winter visibility is actually better than summer here.

Fouling is heavy. Boats kept on RVYC club docks or Cadboro Bay moorings typically need 4-6 week cleaning cadence through summer to stay ahead of growth. Racing boats get cleaned on a pre-event schedule regardless of calendar time since last cleaning.

We work both club-dock boats and the mooring-ball fleet. Mooring-ball boats get combined hull clean and mooring inspection as a single-dive service.

What we do here

Typical Royal Victoria Yacht Club jobs.

  • Race-prep hull cleaning for club racing fleet
  • Routine hull cleaning at shorter cadence due to Cadboro Bay's high-growth water
  • Mooring-buoy inspection for club mooring-ball fleet
  • Pre-Swiftsure and pre-regatta cleaning programs
  • Zinc inspection and replacement for club fleet

FAQ

Royal Victoria Yacht Club questions.

Do you do multi-boat discounts for club racing teams?
Yes. Teams or groups of 3+ boats at RVYC planning race-prep cleanings together get reduced per-boat rates. Call with the boat list and regatta date and we'll quote the group.
Can you clean a boat on a Cadboro Bay mooring?
Absolutely - that's a big part of our Cadboro Bay work. No need to move the boat. We bring everything we need and work from a small tender tied alongside.
Why do boats in Cadboro Bay foul faster than elsewhere in Victoria?
The water is shallower, warmer, and less flushed than the Inner Harbour or Oak Bay. Shallow warm water accelerates barnacle recruitment and algae growth. Most RVYC boats need cleaning every 4-6 weeks in summer versus 6-8 elsewhere in Victoria.
