FAQ

Common questions.

Don't see your question? Call (778) 535-4506 — we'll answer it.

I ran aground - do I need an emergency inspection?
Usually yes, even if the boat seems fine. Grounding can crack keel joints, damage rudder bearings, bend shafts, and scrape the hull laminate in ways that don't show until they fail. An underwater inspection tells you what happened before you discover it the hard way.
Can you do this if I'm on the hard (hauled out)?
If the boat is hauled, you don't need a diver - the yard can see everything we would. We do underwater inspections specifically for boats in the water that can't or don't want to haul immediately.
How quickly can you get to a grounding?
Victoria and Sidney area - often same day if called before noon. Outer areas - next day in most cases. Call (778) 535-4506 and we'll give you an honest ETA.
Will my insurance accept your documentation?
Our underwater video and written report is widely accepted as visual documentation of damage. It doesn't replace a formal marine surveyor's report for claim settlement - you may still need a surveyor - but our documentation is the starting point and proves the damage existed.
What if I'm in a remote anchorage in the Gulf Islands?
We cover the Canadian Gulf Islands. Response time is longer - typically next day or the day after, depending on weather and travel. Call us right away so we can get moving.
